Getting OrganizedPerformance I created a slide lecture performance that explores statistics and pleasure. I performed it at the Hugo House as part of the Annual Inquiry, and in Portland as part of the Core Sample festival. The lecture starts from the game of Fantasy Basketball and from there looks at the history of statistics in order to plumb its connection to the pleasures of measurement. Along the way the lecture examines the nature of games, gambling, pornography, and SAT testing. A series of animated note cards provide a visual accompaniment to the lecture. The animations also include animals doodled on a post-it notes that comically respond to the lecture notes. |
